European Council President António Costa has delivered a speech at the European Parliament to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The President of the European Council, António Costa, travelled to Barcelona and gave a speech at the event organised by the Cercle d’Economia on 6 May 2025.

On 5 May 2025, the President of the European Council visited the SEAT manufacturing site in Barcelona. At the press conference which followed, he highlighted the factory’s evolution towards the production of electric vehicles and praised Catalonia’s role in driving European integration and its contribution to EU priorities, such as the twin green and digital transitions.

On 7-8 May 2025, European Council President António Costa will travel to Strasbourg and Florence. In Strasbourg, he will take part in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in the European Parliament. In Florence, he will deliver a speech at the EUI and visit the Leonardo facility in Campi Bisenzio.

Dabei haben sie die Gelegenheit, an Debatten, Live-Aufführungen, Spielen und anderen Aktivitäten teilzunehmen.

Der Rat hat restriktive Maßnahmen der EU gegen diejenigen, die für Handlungen mit dem Ziel verantwortlich sind, die Souveränität und die Unabhängigkeit der Republik Moldau zu destabilisieren, zu untergraben oder zu bedrohen, bis zum 29. April 2026 verlängert.

In the context of his visit to Bulgaria, European Council President António Costa visited the Trakia University in Stara Zagora. Addressing the press, he highlighted the importance of strengthening Europe’s economy, security and cohesion. He also praised Bulgaria’s efforts in innovation, research and defense, emphasising its contribution to a more prosperous and secure EU.

European Council President António Costa met with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev in Sofia. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the key role Bulgaria plays within the EU and praised the country for its recent achievements, namely the accession to Schengen area and the progress towards adopting the euro.

European Council President António Costa met with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rossen Jeliazkov in Sofia. During a press conference following their meeting, President Costa outlined the programme for his official visit to Bulgaria over the following two days, which will focus notably on competitiveness and European defence.

Weekly schedule of President António Costa, 28 April – 4 May 2025

On 27, 28 and 29 April, the President of the European Council António Costa will travel to Bulgaria to meet with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rossen Jeliazkov to discuss key EU priorities, regional stability, and the importance of coordinated action to tackle shared challenges. President Costa will also meet President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev. The President will take the opportunity to visit, together with Prime Minister Jeliazkov, several important industrial and technological centres.

Der Rat hat die restriktiven Maßnahmen der EU angesichts der Lage in Myanmar/Birma heute um ein Jahr, d. h. bis zum 30. April 2026, verlängert.

Der Rat hat eine dritte bilaterale Unterstützungsmaßnahme in Höhe von 15 Mio. € im Rahmen der EFF angenommen, um die Einsatzbereitschaft der Armee der Republik Nordmazedonien zu stärken.
