On 5 May 2025, the President of the European Council visited the SEAT manufacturing site in Barcelona. At the press conference which followed, he highlighted the factory’s evolution towards the production of electric vehicles and praised Catalonia’s role in driving European integration and its contribution to EU priorities, such as the twin green and digital transitions.
- President Costa to visit Strasbourg and Florence on 7 and 8 May 2025
On 7-8 May 2025, European Council President António Costa will travel to Strasbourg and Florence. In Strasbourg, he will take part in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in the European Parliament. In Florence, he will deliver a speech at the EUI and visit the Leonardo facility in Campi Bisenzio.

The President of the European Council, António Costa, will travel to Barcelona, Spain on 5 and 6 May 2025 to meet with regional leaders and visit key industrial and research infrastructures in the areas of the automotive sector, artificial intelligence and innovation.

- Europeans celebrate 75 years of unity and solidarity on Europe Day 2025
On Europe Day, 9 May, the EU celebrates its achievements of unity and long-term peace, commemorating the signing of the Schuman Declaration in 1950. Citizens will have the opportunity to visit the EU institutions in Brussels and beyond, learning more about what Europe does for and with them. Citizens will be invited to participate in debates, live performances, games and other activities.

In the context of his visit to Bulgaria, European Council President António Costa visited the Trakia University in Stara Zagora. Addressing the press, he highlighted the importance of strengthening Europe’s economy, security and cohesion. He also praised Bulgaria’s efforts in innovation, research and defense, emphasising its contribution to a more prosperous and secure EU.

On 27, 28 and 29 April, the President of the European Council António Costa will travel to Bulgaria to meet with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rossen Jeliazkov to discuss key EU priorities, regional stability, and the importance of coordinated action to tackle shared challenges. President Costa will also meet President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev. The President will take the opportunity to visit, together with Prime Minister Jeliazkov, several important industrial and technological centres.
